Opened in 1988 as Shamburger School to serve secondary level residents. It now operating as Azleway Charter School and features several classrooms, a library/computer center, commercial kitchen, office, and provides education for up to 100 residents.

All of the children living at the Azleway Boys' Ranch have moved from Chapel Hill schools to our on-site Charter School in order to better meet their needs.

With campuses in Tyler and Big Sandy, the Azleway Charter school is a true asset to the children who are not yet able to "measure-up" with the public school system.

Each teacher is well trained to provide the tools needed to meet the needs of each child in our care.

BUILDING TRADES PROGRAM

Azleway Charter school has a “introduction to building trades” class where boys learn practical skills that will provide a marketable skill for future employment.

With the newly erected 1,200 square foot building trades building, the Azleway Charter School will be focusing on teaching wood working skills as well as welding skills. The purpose of the building trades program is to prepare the boys for the future.

SPORTS PROGRAM

Azleway offers the boys the opportunity to participate in basketball and track in an effort to promote sportsmanship. Learning teamwork and positive communication skill are just a few of the benefits for the boys participating in these activities.

BUILDING TOWARD THE FUTURE

Azleway is currently building a fully operational commercial kitchen in our Training Center Facility.

This facility will allow for a culinary arts training program. With adequate space and equipment our chef will be able to train children with a marketable skill. This is empowering for these children on several levels:

    1. They feel that they are being invested in.
    2. They learn a skill that enables them to help others.
    3. They are involved in something that helps them focus on the positive aspects of living at Azleway.
    4. They will have a skill to help them in becoming self-sufficient once they have left the childcare system.
