Thomas - Then and Now

One night I was out past curfew cruising in my car and I got pulled over. That’s when all the trouble started. You see I was on top of the world. I had a nice Cadillac, all the money I needed, and lots of friends, so I thought. I was using drugs and selling them, I was just trying to be cool and fit in with the crowd.

I would never listen to nobody, I didn’t care if I got in trouble or even locked up. I also never went to school. The last time I’ve been to school was 2003. I quit because I used to get into more trouble at school then out on my own. I tried to stay away from my family because I did not want them to see me doing drugs or not going to school. Every time I would see them they would preach at me and I didn’t want to hear it. I just wanted to do my own thing.

Now that I am at Azleway my life is going pretty good, I quit selling drugs, I am learning how to do different stuff rather than sell drugs. I am back in school, trying to catch up, and am learning to cook and take care of things. I also am not out past curfew. Not being out past curfew helps me stay out of trouble. I also quit doing drugs, I realized that they ruin your body and they keep you around negative behavior. I listen to my peers and elders and take whatever they tell me in a good way. They are just helping me do right from wrong. I have stopped cursing because here if you curse there are consequences that I don’t want, so I watch my language. Now I care about a lot more stuff, like my family, and my body. I am still away from my family, but now it is to help me out and to do good. Soon I can see my family again. BACK
